Raze is one of the latest free games featured on our site. Because it is a very popular free games online and there are still no reviews about it, the author decided to write one, as well as some tips to help you win.
Raze offers more ways to play it and, because of this, there will be further reviews about it. This one is written in regard to the human campaign. One of the following reviews will be about the alien campaign and one more will speak about game styles and in games weapons.
Raze is a free 2D shooter games While most people who commented on this free online game seemed to make a bond between Raze and Halo because of the graphics (yes, Raze borrows some of the character graphics from Halo), it is fair to say that this kind of gaming concept was widely introduced by desktop games like Quake 3 Arena and Unreal Tournament (ok, you might want me to declare Unreal Tournament first... I agree). Raze is definitely one of the most played of our latest online games.
Just like in every game from the shooter kind, in Raze it is essential for you to appreciate how to use every weapon and to remember the location of health, shield and damage power-ups. Sometimes, in Raze you play alone and sometimes you have team members who support you. Exciting for this king of free game, it even has a plot revealed by unlocking new levels. I won't tell you much about it; play Raze and find out for yourself.
Now about the play games : the first level of Raze is a tutorial level in which you learn how to to move around, jump, double-jump, collect and change weapons etc. At the end, you have to execute a weak bot. The next five levels are also very easy (at least I found them that way), therefore I won't say much about them. If you are an skilled gamer, with reasonable reflexes, you can just sprint around and shoot any enemy that you encounter. With a superior weapon you can get a lot of one shot kills in these levels of Raze.
I found level 7 to be the earliest truly demanding one in Raze. Tips: calm down, be patient and aim well. Try to snipe! It does not work anymore to jog around and shoot at everything you see. It gets significant to choose your weapons well in Raze, for the reason that some don't inflict that much damage. Use the sniper rifle and the rocket launcher for long and medium distance shots and the fire shotgun for close quarter fights. It was in this level (and subsequent to failing it 3 times) that I in fact developed a prudent strategy. Using the same strategy, level 8 seemed unproblematic (level 8 features the same level design, this time having to battle against zombies - zombies that only look like zombies but have the aptitude to move fast and use weapons just like any other bot you meet). The same can be said about level 9.
Level 10 seemed much harder (everyone starts with Bio Uzis now, instead of simple pistols) and chaotic; fortunately, the other bots on my squad did a good job, whilst I made no difference :). Level 11 plays on the same map of Raze. I was only vaguely better, and only when getting my hand on a railgun. It is worth mentioning that there is a bright zone on the bottom of the level. It is not a passage, it is an electric arc which kills you, like I happened to discover :p. Level 12 is the third time on the same level (I noticed that Raze levels 7,8 and 9 share the same map, just as 10,11 and 12 do). On this map, it got harder and harder and I had to make a change to win level 12. I actually managed to do so, so let's move ahead to 13. How did I do it? I abused a grenade launcher. The grenades glue to surfaces and to players (!) and deal a great amount of harm in Raze. Typically, I do not like that weapon, but the upper part of the level design made it a great position to glue grenades to enemies by permanently shooting in one direction :D. It may sound lame but, hey, we won!
Level 13 and 14 of Raze have the same level design as level 6, the spacecraft interior with low gravity. Level 13 is not very challenging but, in level 14, all your team members are infected and you are on your own versus them. It is a classic deathmatch - everybody against everybody. And it is tough. I managed to make it only on the third attempt.
Level 15 is the final fight of this free online game. It is what is called a juggernaught battle. The idea is simple: you have to slay the alien boss. He is a tough guy (with lots of hp) but you get 10 lives to do it. You will see how many it will take you to triumph and finish the human campaign of Raze.
