Game Guide: Shaman Leveling

Leveling a shaman play games is a great experience. Early on shamans don't kill that well but you will quickly find yourself gaining many abilities that more than make up for this. To save you traveling time you will be getting Ancestrall Recal that acts as another Hearthstone. If you happen to die you will get reincarnation which allows you to revive without running back to your corpse. Another nifty ability is the ghost wolf form which increases your movement speed by 30 percent.

Later on you will get even more abilities that will turn you into one of the strongest soloers at that point. These are heroism/bloodlust (name depends on the faction) which give you a 40 percent melee and casting speed buff for 45 seconds. On top of this you get a fire and earth elemental which you can summon through the respective totems to wreck havoc on your enemies.

Anyway let's get into the talent builds. First of all the restoration tree should be avoided at all costs as it provides no bonuses to damage which is key for leveling. Going restoration is an option if you wish to level primarily through running dungeons, but in that case you're looking at the wrong guide, as this one is optimized for leveling as fast as possible. This leaves the options of elemental and enhancement. I've found elemental doesn't come into its own till at least level 60. Gear for spellcasters is severely lacking in the lower levels which makes specs like elemental rather substandard.

This leaves us with the enhancement shaman so let's waste no time getting into it.

Enhancement shamans are melee/caster hybrids with a higher tendancy to melee damage, especially until the higher levels.

First things first, at lower levels your melee damage is lackluster compared to your spells' damage. As such I recommend you start with spending some points into elemental (getting both of the first line talents) until you hit level 20. At that point you can respec to enhancement for shamanistic focus as this is a huge talent and starts the trend of building all the way to the bottom of the tree.

As you can see once you hit level 20 is where the enhancement tree really becomes a powerhouse. One tier higher you already get flurry which significantly increases your melee damage. Windfury weapon, obtained at level 30, will really show the greatness of flurry. After that you will find a couple of great talents that either reduce incoming damage significantly or further improve your damage.

But then you hit level 40, and this is where enhancement COMES TOGETHER. Dualwielding from 40 on and storm striking from 41 on you will finally get a feel of what being an enhancement shaman is about. This is where you will find your damage improving by ridiculous amounts and you will really get a feel of how your enhancement shaman is supposed to be played.

As you go deeper you will find more nifty talents. Such as improved stormstrike to keep your mana up and lava lash to give you yet another attack. On top of this you get Shamanistic Rage which reduces damage taken while allowing melee attacks to restore mana to the point where you will never have mana problems again.

And we've already come to the final 2 talents of the tree of which Maelstrom Weapon finally turns you into the melee-caster hybrid. It gives you the ability to cast many spells without cast time. Not only will this increase your leveling speed it also makes your shaman a lot more dynamic in regards to playstyle. Lastly you will get your feral spirits. The feral spirits have numerous useful abilities while healing you for the damage they deal. This talent allows you to solo most group quests. Especially once combined with heroism and you elemental totems gained at the higher levels.

After you get all this you can move back to the elemental tree and pick up some nifty goodies there, such as increased spell damage or the always lovely Elemental Devastation which increases your melee crit by a whopping 9 percent whenever one of your spells crits.

All in all the enhancement shaman free games is one of the best levelers once he hits around level 50 and really starts getting their key abilities. You will have Maelstrom Weapon to keep your damage non-static and abilities that allow you to deal superb burst damage to finish targets quickly.
