Fighting Games Lover

To compete in the tournament as these events have plenty of free-play stations letting you play for fun and bragging rights. The free-play stations provide the friendly environment that the EVO
Championship Series wants to prevent as all tournaments are open to everybody. Most gamers let alone professional gamers can say that this is the way it should be, a tournament that is open to just about anybody and in a friendly environment.

It’s unknown when the 2008 EVO Championship Series will take place, but the EVOWorld Tournament has already taken place a few days ago in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each EVO Tournament does have a huge gathering making it a worthwhile event to fund and sponsor. The 2007 EVO Championship Series was funded and sponsored by the Toyota Yaris. There’s a good chance that Toyota may fund and sponsor future EVO Tournaments due to the rising popularity.

The winners of the respective tournaments should they choose to play at the EVOWorld Tournament automatically qualify for the semi-finals. Despite not competing in the other tournaments, EVOWorld is open to everybody meaning that you’re invited to compete even if you haven’t qualified in a previous tournament. In a sense, it’s a second chance to show off your fighting game skills. Players that have lost can use this as an opportunity to seek “revenge” at the finals.

The EVOWorld tournament has ended as it was from August 24 to August 26. It’s unknown when the first qualifying tournament will be in 2008. But chances are that the first qualifying tournament will be in the spring.

All tournaments award cash prizes to the top three places proportional to the number of attendees. The ten dollars that each participant puts in goes to the pool of the prize money. Winners are guaranteed a fixed amount at the finals in Las Vegas no matter how many people participate in the tournament. First place winners in each category were awarded five grand.

There were eight fighting games chosen for the tournament: “Street Fighter III: Third Strike”, “Marvel vs. Capcom 2″, “Super Smash Brothers Melee”, “Guilty Gear Accent Core”, “Virtua Fighter 5″, “Tekken 5″, “Super Street Fighter II Turbo”, and “Capcom vs. SNK 2″ which are all popular titles within the fighting game community. Eight titles alone is more than enough to keep attendance busy. Though there isn’t much diversity, tournaments such as the EVO series tend to go with the more popular titles.

If you’re looking for a good fighting free games tournament, then the EVO Championship Series is the one to check out. If you want to enter a major gaming tournament, this is the one you must enter. The EVO Championship
Series has been running strong and will run strong for a very long time as the world of fighting games let alone 2D and 3D fighting games are still trendy and haven’t been made obsolete.
